It is a utter confusion to find what all about: commands are there and
their correct spelling.

tb/ff should provide some method, say, by just writing about: in url
bar, we should get all the about: commands listed in the page.

same about addons having such options, like thunderbrowse addon of tb
should give a list of all such options when I type tbil: in url bar.

Thanks.

How in TB. I can't see where I'd type about:about or about:anythingelse.

get any one of the tb addons - thunderbrowse, or WAT (web application
toolbar, I guesss), or titlebar tweak.

all three of them give option to enter url in Tb.

Thanks.

Top posting corrected.

That only shows an extension for Tbird - is that what you meant?
I don't think that adequately answers Millwood's question, the answer to
which is there isn't any native way to enter about:x in Tbird.

Unless Rawat has found a way other than an extension, which he hasn't
shared yet...

To quote: "In Thunderbird 1.5 or later, about:config is accessed via "Tools
-> Options -> Advanced -> General -> Config Editor (button)". "
I believe that extension just makes a shortcut to it, from the view menu.
( and apologies for the top posting, getting used to gmail's new composer. )

the issue wasn't where to find /about:config/
the question was where to input various about:<whatever>
such as about:about

Get the extension View About. It adds a View Menu item to use the
extension and works in both FF and TB. It was authored by a TB
contributor about 4 years ago. Note: It has more options than TB
supports, but which exist in HH.

In Firefox, type "about:about" into the address bar. You get a list of
about: commands. Since Thunderbird has no address bar, I see no way to
do that with it.

HH?

And /why/ does one need/want about:<> in Tbird?
Must be a reason but I can't think if it...

Dugh, a typo of FF. :(

I like the View About extension for it's easy menu based access to
:crashes, :cache, :memory, and :plugins. It is so much easier than
editing the start page in TB for each about:x. The about:cache is nice
for copying media that may have been streamed with an RSS feed.

when you access about:config by tools - options, it opens as a pop up
window, and the url bar is not accessable or editable and there you
can't paste new url to open.

Thanks.

installed "View About" in tb and ff.

in TB it does show all the about: options in view - viewabout.

in ff, with menu bar off, where is the view menu command to see viewabout?

Thanks.

Just press the "alt" button on the keyboard -- the menu bar will show up.
Alternatively, try right clicking the toolbar, and enabling "Menu bar" in
the popup menu.

ohk. very convenient.

though it doesn't open till I release the alt. If I keep that pressed,
it doesn't come, and pop comes when I release that.

Thanks for the tip. it would surely help a lot.

Thanks.
