I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.9 and when I was browsing, my PC crashed due to
power failure. Firefox window stopped responding, like other application
windows and finally restarted my machine. Since then, whenever I start
downloading something, the Download Progress window does not show at
all. I've installed the Status bar Download indicator Add-In installed
as well and that's not working, too!
I checked the Tools - Options - Main tab - "Show the Downloads window
when downloading a file" option and it's selected. Once again, I removed
the check-mark and rechecked it, then restarted Firefox but still not
working as desired. I disabled the "Download Statusbar" add-in,
restarted Firefox and still the download progress window is not showing up.
The interesting thing is: I can see Firefox is downloading the file
correctly as .PART file size keeps on changing and finally the file gets
proper shape after successful download. But while this process of
download is going on, if I go to Tools - Downloads menu to launch
Downloads window, I see nothing in this window!!!
Finally I Uninstalled it, made sure that all Mozilla Firefox related
folders are deleted (including those in Application Data folder under my
Windows User account folder) and downloaded a fresh copy of Firefox from
Mozilla website; installed it in anticipation of problem being resolved.
But still no luck!!
Can somebody please tell me what's the problem? How can I resolve it? If
this is the problem with my Firefox installation then why Uninstall and
Install a new version didn't resolve this issue?
Waiting for your valuable reply ...
Regards,
Ruturaaj.
go into the download manager [under tools], and empty it.
Does it work now?
if not, then close the program and delete the file
downloads.rdf from the FF profile. Restart FF. Does it
work now?

Thanks for your prompt reply and I'm so glad to tell you that problem is
resolved!! I manually deleted RDF file and it started working just
fine!! I'm just wondering if this was the solution then why Uninstall
and Install new version didn't work?!?

no, your FF profile is kept in one area of your computer and
the program is kept elsewhere. When you uninstall, all
you're doing is removing the program, the profile is not
touched. The profile has nothing to do with the program
being uninstalled.
I´m also got that problem but I can not find the downloads.rdf file
anywhere in my computer.
I´m using Firefox 2.0.0.9 - brazilian portuguese version (Mozilla/5.0
(Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; pt-BR; rv:1.8.1.9) Gecko/20071025 Firefox/
2.0.0.9)
Would that file have a different name in my computer?
Thank you for any help.

You need to make hidden files visible before you can find it (unless you
search with Agent Ransack - I have been told that, anyway).
you are so very welcome. Now if only the mozilla powers to
be who want to get rid of me, see that I am making a
contribution.
