Using saved password fails to work for site: webchat.freenode.net Though the password _is_ (has already been) saved, the saved account name & pw is not filled in on the screen. Bug? Fix?

How is the password automatic entry function supposed to work? Is it merely supposed to fill in all account name & pw info for a page when that page is loaded?

Thanks.

What happens if you type in the username; is the password automatically
filled in?

Most sites, especially financial type sites will not allow the automatic
password fill-in. However, if the site does allow it then when you enter
your username, the password will be automatically filled in. It's
possible that the site you mention does not allow the saving of passwords.

Nothing happens. The pw section is left blank, & I have to type it in, every time.

This is a public website, you can try it out, it is merely a web gateway to IRC. I enter my registered nicname. The pw is for my registered nic. So, if you want to try to duplicate this problem, you probably need to register a nic with freenode. It is free (zero cost) to register a nic.

The PW dialog comes up on that page when you check the box "Auth to services:".

Note: I am using the FF NoScript plugin, & have already set that to temporarily allow freenode.net. i also put freenode.net on the NoScript whitelist.

Does the pw fill in function require me to allow some specific firefox script to run? Ie, one NoScript might be blocking?

Looking over the source of that page, I don't see any "form" tags. It
looks like the whole thing id generated by javascript. If that is the
case, I would expect that Firefox doesn't know where to put the data
since there are no actual "form" fields. There is a feedback link under
the IRC logo in the upper left side of the page. I would suggest that
you ask there.

Thanks, david. That looks like the next step fix. :)

I was going to send this just to you, but I'm gussing your email here won't get to you. ;) Do you work for mozilla, or just want to be nonmus?

I don't work for Mozilla. I'm just a user like you and I prefer to only
deal with Mozilla stuff on the newsgroup hence the eamil address used
here is a clearly phony one.
