Hi

I have Windows Vista Home Premium OS and I upgraded Mozilla firefox
recently from 2.0.0.8 to 2.0.0.9 but I still get "Firefox could not
install this add-on due to Failure in Chrome registration. Please
contact the author about this problem"-error message thrice when I
start this application.

My add-ons are Talkback, DOM inspector, ThinkVantage Password, Google
toolbar, and recently installed chatzilla from irc.mozilla.org but the
last one does not work. I try to disable Talkback which gets re-
enabled all by itself. I am no developer so I dont understand very
technical terms, can anyone please help me out here?

Incidentally, I can watch videos and get to see the wm-plug in web
pages and so far firefox hasnt crashed by itself though I am yet to
run Java applets.

Thanks

Vivian

its probably because you have a corrupted profile. The
profile is where all your data, prefs, addons, etc are kept.

Close FF, then click on the windows start button, then run,
and enter:

firefox.exe -p

this will bring up the FF profile manager. Create a test
profile, and install the extension into that. Does it
install OK?

I recently ran into a situation in which someone had uninstalled The
ThinkVantage Password Manager from his ThinkPad, but then Firefox
wouldn't work because a ThinkVantage Password extension had been forced
into Firefox (all users, no obvious way to remove it). This caused the
same error message to appear.

The solution was to make sure the software was installed and the
extension was functioning correctly, then to disable the extension
(which was unwanted).

Check for an update to ThinkVantage Password Manager from Lenovo. In the
meantime, disable that extension if you don't use it.

Yup. We've actually got a bug for adding this to the Firefox Support
knowledge base.

I also just purchased a ThinkPad, and saw that the ThinkVantage
Password Manager is not compatible with the FX2 I'm running. As a
workaround, I ran Firefox in Safe Mode and told it to disable all
extensions, because I couldn't disable the TV Password manager from
FX. Once I did that, I was able to install and start using other
extensions without a problem. We'll see how long it works.
