how to remove separator bars on bookmarks?

I have several extra separator bars on the bookmark toolbar,
and separator bars on the regular bookmarks, which I cannot remove.
They won't go away.
Please help.

Selecting the separator in Organize Bookmarks and hitting the delete key works for me.

Select 'customize', and drag the extra separators to the dialog box, and
drop them.
