I am wondering if anyone can tell me how to retrieve the downloads
that were downloaded after the system restore point that i restored
to.
I downloaded some things this morning but had to use system restore to
go back to yesterday afternoon and the downloaded files from this
morning are now gone from the downloads folder...
Any help is appreciated.

thanks in advance

I think you'll have to download them again.

Your difficulty today reminds me of one good reason why I keep the
profile on a partition (or drive) other than C.

System Restore doesn't normally effect your personal data. Did you have the
files located in a folder outside of the Documents and Settings folder. Windows
uses the Documents and Settings folder to know which data to ignore as system or
application file changes.

You may be able to undo the restore, copy the files into "My Documents" then
redo the restore.

If you have Vista Ultimate (or Business) and have System Protection enabled you
may be able to access the files. If you have a lesser version of Vista, you can
download Shadow Explorer from http://www.shadowexplorer.com/ to gain access to
the backed up data. (The data is backed up in all versions but the interface to
retrieve it is only in the Ultimate versions.)

This not really a Firefox issue so you may find more help in a Microsoft
newsgroup or forum.

Don't play dumb, Jay. Didn't you read the original post? I doubt the
OP had any trouble figuring out what I was talking about. (Or you
either.) I know how to include relevant material when necessary. But
just in case you were serious. Here's the question the OP asked
*immediately* before my reply.

Anti-etiquette. A nice turn of phrase. :)

I was replying to the OP, and this is the etiquette I complied with.
OK?

I was replying to the original *post*, which is easily accessible,
especially since it was the only post that preceded mine.

Do you or Jay have feedback for the original poster. I'm not
comfortable continuing this off-topic "discussion" in a support
thread. Follow-ups to mozilla.general.

Enough context should be quoted so that anybody (not just the OP) can
tell what you meant when by "them" when you said "I think you'll have to
download them again."

I'm setting the followup to mozilla.general; let's take discussion of
quoting there so the OP's issue doesn't get lost amidst it in the
support group.

Not only did I read that post but several hundred others as usual on a
daily basis. You have to realize that users mark threads as READ and
when returning they should be able to continue without difficulty or
having to search for the OP or jump through hoops, etc. It's a courtesy
provided by the user replying to the OP to quote at least some previous
text relative to the original topic. Remember, there are hundreds more
readers than there are posters.

And yes, I was very serious, not necessarily for me but for the other
readers following the topic.

Followup set to .general

Yes, to the OP and to those other readers that were/are following the
discussion.
