1) Updated TabMixPlus with developers latest version 3.7.4pre.090516.
Almost home, but not quite. Only difficulty being the close tab
button remains at the end of the 1st row of tabs and isn't seen after
the last tab. (It was seen until exceeded the max of 3 rows then
disappeared and hasn't returned.)
2) Quick Prefs Button 0.1.8.1 supposedly doesn't work with 3.5, yet
it does.
3) Locator (on google map) incompatible, and not yet sure if its
working with compatibility disabled.
4) Net Tab King incompatible, but apparently OK.
5) Split Pannel incompatible.
6) Toolbar Grippies incompatible, but works OK.
7) Extension Manager isn't checking for updates using button or
tools/check for updates reads for every extension: "An error occurred
while trying to find updates for xxxx." Presumably the site is down.
8) Didn't need to reinstall Roboform as I've read in this group and
it works fine as is.
9) Simple Green theme has several failures. Uncertain as to Simply
Blue. Hopefully he'll get the old Sky Pilot going soon!
10) Believe the location drop down lost the history, apparently only
carries bookmarks. Will soon see if current sites return. (History
does in fact it's complete history.)
11) Google Gears not yet updated.
Obviously the update went off without a hitch on the part of Mozilla!!
Merely waiting for extension and theme authors to update.

You might like "Split Browser" better, but I'm sure the one
you're using has had lots of revisions as well. Split browser
allows you to split horizontally and/or vertically no actual limits,
and you can even have tabs within splits. I find it nice to
work with about:config and the documentation at the same time.
I surprised about Toolbar Grippies in use thought that was gone
long time ago. But didn't really like it when I used it, it rearranged
things. There are lots of extensions and styles that will hide toolbars
and you can simply slide cursor up through top to see all toolbars,
or down through bottom to see all Firefox task bar.
I use "AutoHide" with only the tabs visible at all times, toggled with F11.
You can up the toolbars by sliding through the top, or get to the location
bar with it's standard keyboard shortcut ("Ctrl+L").
You chose which toolbars are visible when toggled on and when toggled off.

HTH,
David McRitchie, extensions I use are briefly documented on my site
Firefox Custom: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/firefox/firefox.htm
Sounds OK on the website. Will try it out next week.

Interesting for it's never rearranged anything for me and it's been in
use for a few years.

I searched Addons for autohide and auto hide and it didn't turn up.
True F11 does toggle the bars off & on. However I use grippie in order
to keep 2 technical bars closed to one very small row most of the
time, only opening when needed.
I have links to them on my website,
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/firefox/firefox.htm#autohide
which I usually include on first
post, or when referring to extensions. I have notes on my page
that are helpful/summarized to see at a glance how to invoke, etc.
KrickelKrackel :: Autohide for Firefox/SeaMonkey
http://www.krickelkrackel.de/autohide/
Requires secure server override [--
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions_-_Firefox#Unsecured_updating --], well worth the extra effort to
install. You could download extension and
and then drag the .xpi file to the Firefox window to install (or is it the addons
window) it worked for someone for another extension but they didn't say which
window to drag it to but you'll know immediately.

Better late than never! Thanks David, I've looked at autohide and
will try it soon. In the meantime, I have no problems with installed
extensions -- add-on compatibility checking is turned off. And Split
Pannel updated the other day. I tried Split Browser perhaps a year
ago and found Split Pannel better -- don't recall why, but will also
check back in my notes later this week to see what changes have been
made in both extensions.
