Hi All,

I am using FireFox 1.5.0.4. After installing a PDF printer driver, PimoPDF,
my FireFox does not work with other existing printer drivers, including the
default one, Journal Note Writer. All the printer drivers that the FF can
not work with are MS printer drivers as follows:

1. Journal Note Writer
2. Microsoft Fax Printer
3. Microsoft Office Document Image Writer

I am sure that all the four printer drivers, including the PrimoPDF, are
working fine with other applications except FireFox. All the printers above
are successful with their test pages.

The symptom for the non-PDF printer drivers while working with FF: for the
first time, the File/Print menu works, the Printer choosing dialogue box can
appear, you can choose the printer as usual and select the filename to
print. Then, nothing happens. The expected file would not be generated. The
viewers (Windows Journal or Office Document Image Viewer) would not be
started. If you try printing again, FF reports "Printer error" after
choosing File/Print. As I mentioned, all other applications can work with
the four printer drivers at the same time.

Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.

Regards,
bbao

If the other print drivers stopped working *after* the installation of
the PDF print driver, that would be an indication to me that the PDF
print driver is the root cause of the problem. Have you tried
uninstalling it?

Hi Jeremy,

I tried last time, before reinstalling the XP. No help. :(

I am not sure if it is a FF specific issue, so I wan to know if other
FF users ever got the same problem. Did you?

I've never heard of that problem, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. :P

I can say that I use PDFCreator[1] to do print to PDF and haven't ever
had any conflicts with it and Firefox (or any other applications, for
that matter). It's free and open source.

Hi Jeremy,

I have eventually fixed it up! That was caused by some printing related
settings in prefs.js in FF's profile folder. Removing all the saved
printing preferences may fix this problem. No need to uninstall any
printer driver though I did, hehe.

Thanks for your help and time.
