Fox News Video will NOT play on one Firefox installation, other install does?

Interestingly, could not get the Fox News Video (right side of
www.foxnes.com) to play... almost seemed like a Java issue but both have
the same latest Java installed and "other" java stuff works fine.
So is there a trick to getting a recalcitrant Firefox install to play
the videos at Fox News Video?

There is a Firefox extension that will use the IE rendering engine to
display websites within the Firefox browser and that also works.
If you are not crazy about tracking down the cause of such
idiosyncrasies and only want to watch the video, you should try it. It
works great.

If that doesn't work for you, make sure you have the latest version of
Adobe Flash Player installed:

media is being served. Try the View Page Info and use the tabs to get a
lead on the file type being served. The less user friendly way is View
Page Source , and it the page is framed, do View page Source on the
frame to dig down and read the link serving the media for any clues to
what it's payer may be.

Doc, I just solved the problem at my end.
I am running Mike Meyer's Ad-Blocking Hosts and the problem at my end
was with the "ad.doubleclick.net" entry. If you are also using this
trick, just put a semicolon in front of that entry so that the line
that it is in looks like this:
127.0.0.1 ;ad.doubleclick.net
I only have to accept cookies from www.foxnews.com. I can reject all
others with impunity and the video still plays.

weird. I guess I'll just watch CNN (NOT!) - but seriously, THANKS for

interpreting the "news-lite" on US local channels), and Rush is a very
biased, spiteful, and too often just plain wrong(1) source (I listen to

I too am very skeptical of Al Jazeera. I suspect Al Jazeera reports on
more anti-US events (e.g., Iraqi civilian deaths?) than US-based news.
However, I am very skeptical of Al Jazeera's *overall* ability to
provide "fair and balanced" information - kind of what I think about Fox
(unfair and unbalanced!).
However, I'd like to see a side by-side comparison with Fox news. It
might be interesting to see which is *more* biased.

The best work-around is to block Fox News and go to virtually any
other source of news instead of trying to access the un-ending
stream of lies they spew.
I won't waste my time trying to figure it out. I got better
things to do, like clipping my toenails.
