Does anyone have a fix for the new Google Groups
display. I don't like having to use full size window
1024 x 768 because I can't get rid of the third panel.
Haven't been successful with Platypus or trying to
find something for Adblock.

I think everyone would like to know that question! I run at 640x480, and
that 3rd column is huge while the other two have the horizontal scrolls,
and I have to scroll to the bottom just to scroll horizontally, but then
I can't see the top of the message, and . . . oh good grief!

What are you using for a monitor, an old VGA ? Or is it the Video card
that holds you back on resolution ?

what the hell does that have to do with anything. I'm using win98 at
604x480.

this is the first image I see. As you can see, the right column is huge
while the middle column is screwed up and tiny and needs a horizontal
scroll:
http://img119.imageshack.us/my.php?image=84698924mv6.jpg

I have to scroll down to the bottom to get the horizontal scroll, but
now I can't read the top:
http://img168.imageshack.us/my.php?image=58309474xy5.jpg

If I use 800x600 then this is what I see. Its better, but not the res I
want.

Peace Brother. I thought that there are some, who like me, are on a
pension thus sharing of retired hardware resources could be an answer to
some hardware limitations.

did you ever find it?

Thanks, the bookmarklet worked perfectly, much better
than what I was going to look up if no better solution, and
you've got it toggled. WOW! Of course if it were in
"Customize Google" wouldn't really care if it toggled or
not just to get rid of the third panel.

Ralph,
In order to help everyone, please don't post with
expiring posts, Peter quoted the entire thread so it
is saved. Thanks again.

sorry, FF newbie here. How do you use the bookmarklet? All I saw was a
bunch of %xx mumbo jumbo.

that %xx mumbo jumbo are very important to the bookmarklet. Just click
and drag that mumbo jumbo to your bookmark folder. You can open the
bookmark manager and rename it. Now, visit this googlegroup site:

http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.support.firefox/browse_frm/thread/edaede56d41773eb/cab8ee77d169f61f?tvc=1#cab8ee77d169f61f

and you should see three columns. Click on the bookmarklet, and now you
should only see two. Click on it again and you're back to three.

Its a great little toggle, but I wish Ralph would tell us where he got
it from.

I will guess that the panel in the image which you do not see is
the "message list" panel, the left one of the three shown in the image.

At the top, where the subject is shown in big white-on-dark-grey letters,
click on "More options" and then on "Show message list >".

Sometimes the "message list" panel is shown automatically, maybe
depending on how you got there, maybe on GG remembering (via cookies)
whether you had it on or off before. The "message list" panel is
also very useful with long threads, as the centre "message body"
panel only shows 10 messages at a time.
