Lightning calendar interface

Hello,

I have an application that I would like to interface with the
lightning calendar using python on linux & windows. Is there any
documents, modules or code samples showing how to add, modify and
delete events from lightning calendars? I know how to get to the
storage.sdb file, but would like to ensure that I do not corrupt the
contents. Any guidance would be appreciated.
