Hi All

I am very new to Linux and have both Perl and my SQL installed- I hope and am ready to start the Bugzilla install. I just ran into a small problem.

I cannot figure out how to pull BugZilla into the Red Hat system and how to start the unpacking in Red Hat.

I can figure out a Windows system but learning Linux is going to take me some time.

Thanks in advance for your patients and your help

Please don't misunderstand me, I don't want to be rude, but it's
unlikely that anyone on the list will tell you about Linux basics like
untaring tar archives, copying things somewhere etc. There are better
places to learn those basics and at least you need to Google a lot
yourself. Besides that, it's part of those basics to understand what
your OS already gives you as tools, e.g. a package manager which may
already provide a working Bugzilla installation and you just need to
tell it that you want it to install.

And what's the overall goal you are trying to achieve? Do you want to
simply learn Linux or do you really need Bugzilla on a Linux box for
some reason? Bugzilla does work on Windows, with little trade-offs to
accept.

You may not of tried to be rude as you put it. But I have posted on other forums that I am new to Linux and needed help and have had a great responce from other forums and Linux users eager to help a new admin to Linux ( they say I am moving away from the dark side). I figured it out with other peoples help on how to get Bugzilla onto the system to install. There are times when a Windows administrator must setup and administrate a Linux system for the first time. A little patients and help goes a long way of helping the individual get over the shock, fear and anxiety in having to deal with a new operating system for the first time. Remember that the next time someone new asks for assistance.

That's exactly what I've said. ;-) And as I didn't forbid anyone else
to answer your question, you simply would have wasted your time
waiting for answers.

Think again of such sentences in a year, when you have some experience
with Linux and can compare both worlds yourself.

In such situations, the Windows administrator should first read the
documentation provided for Linux and the specific applications you want
to use or install before asking obvious questions in forums.

And you should remember to read the documentation first before blaming
other contributors that they should be more helpful. I'm by far not as
patient and polite as Thorsten when such comments appear in forums.
