I upgraded to Perl vers. 5.8.8 and it did solve my problem. Everything
installed nicely! :-) I do not know if it was because of version conflicts
or a malfunctioning perl installation. (?)

Second, now I do not need to use the sendmail.exe program anymore. That
program was really weird and had a strange behaviour so that is definately a
plus. I have now started the customization of the GUI and I will replace
v2.23.3+ in the production environment, when that is done.

I'm looking forw. to the version with customization of status and workflows.

When upgrading to a newer version does it keep all the modules or do I have
to reinstall them all once again?

ok, I'm stumped then. I've got Perl 5.8.8, but I don't know whether
that's relevant. There is a page around which has blacklisted versions
of Perl, Perl modules and MySQL. Maybe you're bitten by one of these.
Otherwise, it may be some strange permissions problem, but I'm really
poking around in the fog now.
