again ... sorry for stepping in late. May I add my two cents to what's
currently listed in Bug 763220:
Generally I suggest changing "month" for "reporting period". The reason
for this suggestion are:
- In agreement with his/her mentor it could be decided that a mentee
files reports from -for example- mid-month to the next mid-month. This
is still a monthly reporting schedule but it could be shifted to account
for personal circumstances.
- Based on current experience, we could decide to move to a different
reporting period. By using "reporting period" instead of "month" our
form remains future-proof.
> 1. Past item summary -> What Mozilla Reps-related activity/ies did you do for the month covered?
Suggestion: "Which Mozilla Reps-related activity/ies did you do for the
covered reporting period?"
Note to our native English speakers: Could we find a different verb. I
was once told that the usage of "do" most of the times is not a very
good style. Should we say "were you involved in" instead of "did you do"?
> 2. Future plans summary -> What activity/ies do you plan to do in the next month?
Suggestion: "What activity/ies do you plan to do in the next reporting
> 3. "Name of event" should have a heading "Events organized for the month"
I think we should not restrict ourselves to "event organization". IMHO a
ReMo could also participate on behalf of Mozilla at a non-Mozilla event
Suggestion: "Events Organization/Participation during Reporting Period"
Also, "Name of event" could be changed slightly.
Suggestion: "Event Name"
> 4. Share your efforts... -> Where you successful in recruiting new contributors? If so, for which project?
Do we really want to focus on "contributors" only? In my opinion it
should be a valid achievement -for example- to make sure "friends of
Mozilla" register in the community directory (mozillians.org) and add
themselves to the correct groups (e.g. Germany, Munich, Switzerland).
This would make future event organization in those communities much
simpler. For this reason I'd consider this a ReMo achievement.
As a result I would change the wording to:
Suggestion: "Where you successful in recruiting new Mozillians? If so,
for which project or community?"
> 5. Link to activity -> Relevant Links
I am not sure, I understand the current status of the discussion for
this field. Let me put my point of view forward:
Link to activity --> "Relevant Links" (okay, understood)
I suggest the following for the text field below the link.
Suggestion: "Please provide a brief description for the link above (e.g.
blog post, presentation slides, etc)"
Does this still make sense or am I missing the point?
Additionally, I would like to propose a slightly changed wording for the
Suggestion: "Notify your mentor about any help you might need."
The small word "might" should add more cultural awareness. In some
cultures it is perceived as a failure to ask "a superior" for help. If
you only "might" need help, you really don't need help and can therefore
fearlessly express your request for help. (Hope this explanation makes
I will put all my suggestions in the Bug. Feel free to vote them down.
