Lawrence,

You should reply to Brian King's thread about the anniversary, I think the
actually date is one thing but the planned celebrations are another.

I would also be interested in finding out if Mozilla can become a sponsor.
With Mozillians participating in many locations it would be great to see
Mozilla on the main site as a sponsor, not just at individual locations. I
am also sending this to the marketing mailing list to find out if this has
already been discussed or if there is someone we can approach.

If you're reading this on the marketing list, we're referring to NASA's
International Space Apps Challenge http://spaceappschallenge.org/ and we've
started doing some planning here
https://mozillianstoronto.etherpad.mozilla.org/NASAspaceapps (Reps, if you
are attending and haven't added your info or feedback to the etherpad
please do! I know I see a few names missing). Mozillians are on the
organizing teams in several locations.

Hey all!

Thanks Kensie for kickstarting this, I wanted just to stress out the
importance of local Reps participation on those events.

NASA SpaceAppsChallenge this year features many web related projects:
http://spaceappschallenge.org/challenges/
Those events will gather many tech-savvy people that are open and
engaged for participation in open projects. This is the typical crowd
that we are trying to engage and advertise our contribution
opportunities. I would advise all Reps that are close to a location
that an event will take place to participate as much as they can
making sure that the web applications developed are as friendly to the
open web as possible: respecting open standards, making openwebapps,
being open source etc.

One other point that I want to make is that the local organizing teams
are people that we should be engaged and connected with. They have
local knowledge on logistics, venues and event outreach that we can
tap into and collaborate with them in the future. One rough idea that
we have is to jointly we NASA host openweb apps development event
series in the near future, so this SpaceAppsChallenges are a wonderful
chance for us to meet and know the local teams :)

I will be sending more updates on collaboration opportunities in the
ground with NASA as soon as I know something.

Cheers!
