Firefox Facebook Page

Hello,

The Firefox Facebook
page<https://www.facebook.com/Firefox?fref=ts&filter=2>receives a huge
amount of spam and issues daily. At many time they are
unanswered nor is the spam deleted. The wall looks like a place for
advertising. I am surprised that Facebook has not shut the page down
because of the lack of maintenance to. I would like to answer questions on
the page if that is possible. I could use my personal account but that is
putting myself at risk for spam. I hope that we can work together to make a
change to it.

We would love to have you help answer questions and help manage the
page. We do some volunteers helping us there, but as you can imagine,
there's a LOT!

Please email Michaela (cc'd here, she's our social media manager) and
myself (I'm the social content editor - my email is also on the cc list)
and we'll work with you, see where your interests are, etc.

I think we should also consider making "Publication by the page only" as
the default display when we open the Facebook page and not "Other people's
publications" (my Facebook is not in English so my apologies if these are
not the exact translations but I hope you get what I mean).

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for voicing your very valid concerns! I've been thinking through how to manage our very large social community on a daily (and even hourly) basis. I am so grateful for those of you who have emailed me expressing your concerns and offering to help! If there are folks on this list that would like to join our conversations, please email me. I'm excited to work together on this project.

For the time being, I did two things today that should help:

* I added a commenting policy on the Firefox Facebook page so that we can ethically delete offensive and/or irrelevant content.
* I adjusted posting permissions on the page so that people can only reply to our posts (and not post directly on our page). I'd like to turn this feature back on once we work through a conversation management plan, but in the short term, this will definitely help with eliminating spam.
