Splitting from the employees and community thread:

We discussed having calendars of events to keep people informed of things
like work weeks, hackjams and other events. Bug filed here
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=758239

These calendars will need owners though and they'll need to be people who
already have zimbra access. I suggest putting this under the stewards
program. I think it's mutually beneficial. It's already part of their
responsibilities to keep the community informed and involved and this will
be an easy way for them to do some of that.

mrz also points out that we need a policy on what events can be added. I
think that's also clearer if this falls under the stewards program. It
won't be perfect but seems like a good start and a good fit.

Thoughts?

There's also a list at https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/events which has a calendar, this is more geared towards "where we are speaking", but there's no reason it has to be limited to that.

I find all these places to find events somewhat confusing.

Not "already" but will require authenticated Zimbra accounts. This means non-paid staff who are managing this will need Zimbra accounts.

We surely need a plan to get all those (there's another one for Mozilla
Reps, etc.) into a single data source, and I think something's in the
works there.

There is. Pierros and I are working on a PRD and plan now on how to build
this. For more information and to find out where to follow this chatter,
we're building a mailing list specifically for building community tools.
The newsgroup isn't up just yet, but I'll ping this group on its
whereabouts when that does happen.

Thanks,
Aakash
