Hi Everyone,

Quite some time ago now, the Mozilla Spaces initiative was launched -
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/mozilla-spaces/ - though I'm not sure
where the program is now.

I am lucky enough to live in a city with a Mozilla Space, but it would be
nice to have some more formal processes and guidelines for having community
events in the space. Not just in terms of booking the space, but also in
terms of how to properly use the space, keep it clean, what areas need to
be secured how, etc.

This also ties in with the conversation we had a little while back about
community calendars and team weeks, I think this is in the works, but being
able to see a calendar of public events (and unavailable when private
events are on) would be a really nice initiative tied to these spaces.

I also want to suggest that to put these spaces to the best use possible
that there could be an assistant to the office manager to help book the
space, be available during events to help out as well as to evangelize
Mozilla to non-Mozilla groups using the space, follow-up on events in any
way that makes sense. This person could also be the community liason.
Recently students at UofT came out our FirefoxOs App day and they had
several ideas for events and projects they wanted to run with Mozilla.
Eventually I had to get them in touch with someone in California to plan
one of the events. So great that they were able to connect, but it would
have been even better if they had someone to contact sooner, and had a
point person in the Toronto office to help them plan and get in touch with
the right people to support the event.

Also when this project was first announced Reps had the great idea to have
Mozilla affiliated spaces, eg hackerspace.gr where local Mozillians can
have their own events, keep Mozilla related materials posted etc. in cities
that don't have an official Mozilla presence.

It would be great to discuss and organize ways the community can put these
spaces to use, support and expand on the program.
