Chris Ilias is picking on me and cancelling my messages preferentially
compared to other people who are in the same conversations.

I have no interest in being his pen-pal or giving him a working email
address so he can correspond with me privately.

I wonder whatever happened to The Real Bev? Did she get pissed and leave?

The difference between you and those people are that they haven't
posted enough OT to be warned, or if they have been warned they haven't
ignored the warnings.

Just whine here then; that's what people who've ignored the warnings
in the past have tended to do.

She doesn't check in daily, but she still comes around frequently.

I understand that concept; however the idea of OT is a huge spectrum of
grays (or greys). CI shades ME's gray tinges with extra darkeness and
cancels them and allows (thankfully) the deep gray tone of other
correspondents. I'm happy that dark gray correspondents can persist,
but it is annoying to me that light gray ME gets cancelled at the same time.

The issue is what Chris considers off topic. If the post contains 90%
helpful advice and 10% 'off topic' references, it's 'off topic'. At
least in some people's cases.

Don't be annoyed with Chris.
He's got plenty of work to do, I think that this isn't his main priority. If he finds something that he doesn't want here, he's going to cancel it, just like any normal human.
Give him a break, this list gets so much sent through it everyday (believe me, a lot more than even some internal lists), that people can just get fed up and want to get rid of things which might cause another bandwidth problem next time you check your emails.

The message which appeared to be cancelled that triggered this whinge is
'back' and 'uncancelled' so my specific beef about that message being
gone no longer has substance.

Chris doesn't have an email address for me. Some time back he posted a
news message warning me that messages of his choosing (I don't remember
exactly how that was worded) would be removed or cancelled without any
future warning. Presumably if he had an email address for me there
would be some kind of private message that I'm not interested in.

Your message

<gtudnbWUiduhyxrM...@mozilla.org> (137144)

from the same thread that (I thought earlier) mine disappeared and
reappeared is gone.

Oops. I made a mistake earlier about which of my messages disappeared.
The message which disappeared is still gone. Now it all makes more sense.

Ron's message in GG
https://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.support.thunderbird/msg/ff5f4abc26d31a8e?hl=en

My cancelled one
https://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.support.thunderbird/msg/9662901cef6ab8d5?hl=en

Now I retract the 'picking on' business, as I agree that my message was
OT, and it isn't picking on me if he deletes an OT message of mine.

Ron's message and my message that were cancelled were posted to the moz
server. I'm just using the GG links to 'display' the messages because
moz server messages propagate to the GG server, then if they get
cancelled on the moz server and are not accessible with the newsreader
and moz server they are still accessible on the GG server.

I never use GG to post messages, but I do use it to search for things
and to provide a link to a specific past message or a thread.

I also use Howard Knight's MID archive/database for usenet message
links, but not for the moz server.

So that's the reason I got a Bunch on message from Ed Mullen but there
were not from him they were from Mozilla. Only they were bunched back

Some time before that, he posted a news message with a warning that
that's what it would come to if you didn't reduce the volume of your OT
posting.

You'd have gotten the same two messages, except for the parts that
explained why he was posting in newsgroups in your case.

Last week I got about 10 emails to my email address from Ed Mullen. But
when I answered Back (assuming they were test) they were Bounced back
from Mozilla.
It was Eds address Because I've seen his address before. That is what I
am talking about. It was address from a Mozilla address and and From Ed
Mullen also. Finally they quit.

Then last week I receive a Notice about Test group I hadn't been
subscribed to test in year or two Because of all the flack that happened
about anyone send to test was called on carpet by Chris by not following
rules. So I assumed it was removed. So something wonky is going on at
Mozilla.

I don't really comprehend what you are explaining, but it sounds like
something that got tangled up with the moz mailing list for
test.multimedia. I see test messages from Ed via the mailing list in
moz.test.multimedia and I see replies to those messages from you
addressed to the mailing list and to an Ed address.

Jay's the one who asked about the warning(s), so I guess he's the one
you mean to ask about motivation. Once his question was asked, I'd have
thought anyone who didn't care about answers would quit reading, so I
didn't consider that you might read it and find it uninteresting.
Sorry about that.

Mozilla General is for OT topics so don't know why Mike has need

Nope, I'm still here. I'm a glutton for punishment and still read my
usenet groups although they have long since been abandoned by almost
everyone except the loons.

I got canceled from the support groups too and it seems really petty.
When I was first on the internet it was through the Cal State LA K-12
free nntp server. One of the newsgroups was devoted to the server
itself. Discussion rapidly turned to verbal attacks on the service
itself, which were justified.

The admin was an idiot, and neglected server maintenance while spending
Calstate money on attempting to develop a child-safe browser to compete
with Netscape. This didn't happen, of course. He eventually canceled all
complaining posts, which caused the members to move to a different
lightly-used newsgroup. Ultimately I switched to a paid ISP, and I
found out later that the guy was working for the LA Freenet, which my
mom used for a while. Equally inept.

I can see moderating posts designed to be merely disruptive, but
canceling simple off-topicality and legitimate complaints seems
counter-productive.

I certainly have, but my last [canceled] posts involved legitimate TB
problems which still exist, although probably not for most people.

Robomod at least puts a time limit on banning individual posters.

Moi? Surely not, I'm a true ray of sunshine. Like Brian, I always look
on the bright side of life. Nothing ever goes worng for me and my life
is a continual joy. For balance I'm taking a class in negativity, but I
don't think I've fully grasped the concept yet.

That was the Westworld slogan -- possibly just for the movie: 'Where
nothing can go worng'.

Just watched Magnificent Seven again last night. Those guys were the
essence of cool!

Yeap, my mistake, sorry ..... when is Mozilla going to introduce a

And I remember Jurassic Park, another theme park where things went wrong.

Doesn't say much (positive) for theme parks! Or at least for films about
(imaginary) theme parks!!

Clay, are you talking about the nag you get if you've been composing
messages Off-line and then go back on-line??

That's the only time I can recall getting such as message displayed.

Doesn't matter, there will always be "OH SHIT" moments no matter how
many "Are you SURE?" nags you're given.

Not that one. This nag pops up online, soon as you hit send.
I've only seen it on my dad's MAC and, I think, my mom's Ubuntu
computer. I'd a turned it off in a minute but they like it.
I'll have to look at it next time I'm over there to get more details.

Yep, she is definitely a woman! Met her in Pasadena when I was passing
through. Her live-in consultant was supposed to come along but bailed
out at the last minute. She is a good looking lady and when he didn't
come along it got me thinking ... ! But I behaved myself knowing she was
already taken. (Fat chance of me getting a good lookin' lady like that
anyway!) ;-)

Hey Bev, want me to post a link to the picture of you sitting on my
bike? And BTW, I updated my pictures (somewhat) back in January, not
complete yet but there are a bunch you may not have seen if you haven't
looked since January. I know, the newest picture is still old,
2/13/2010. I quit touring in November 2010 but am going back on the road
this Oct. or Nov.

You're too modest. A guy with a moustache, a motorcycle and a 2-bed
trailer should have no problems at all.

That is how i thinks about americans, /yep/ is about the worst russians words
like godverdomme in dutch.
Most americans don't even know that, a russian/ukraine lady toughed me that, so
at a cafe for a cup of coffee, i order a cafe gringo (in spanish countries, like
Mexico and Spain) a cafe americano.
They asked Indira Ghandi: what do you think about the american culture, she
answered: That might be a good idea.. hahaha

I have two pictures of you:

http://beyondlimit.org/Gallery/2009_0412_RockStore_etc_CA/tag_rock_store/dsc_2504_jpg.jpeg.html

and

http://beyondlimit.org/Gallery/2009_0412_RockStore_etc_CA/tag_rock_store/dsc_2505_jpg.jpeg.html

I don't know why all those vultures were there. The pelicans and
vultures were hanging out there. It was a boat launch on the southern
tip of Lake Okeechobee, near Clewiston. Maybe the fishermen would come
in and clean fish there. The pelicans get mean trying to steal the fish
from the fishermen!!!! Vultures might have been waiting for the older
fishermen!!

afaik, only works when using hot keys (Ctrl+Enter) to send the email.
I use hot keys so it is one of the first things I turned off.
