Recently Firefox has been deleting completed downloads.

Tried removing Firefox and setting with Revo Uninstaller, installing and
choosing an old backup from MozBackup with no luck, same thing.
Saving to different folders wont work either.

It might have something to do with Firefox renaming the *.exe.part to
*.exe. Happens on other file types as well, *.zip, *.rar, .jpeg, .jpg,
.bmp... Not my antivirus being overzealous either, as it is on demand only.

Things are fine if I remember to use DownThemAll.

Anyone know if there is anything in the about:config or others setting I
can do to stop Firefox deleting them?

Tracking: 'Tell website I do not want to be tracked' is checked.

Firefox will: Remember history.

When using the location bar, suggest: History and Bookmarks

dTa DownThemAll has 'Advanced auto-renaming'.
http://www.downthemall.net/howto/features/

Firefox has auto-renaming which is discussed in articles replying to
problems with Firefox and downloading.

lower right hand side of that panel is a small box "Settings" which
brings up more choices - you stopped 1 click short.

No settings box on mine.

Using FF v20.0, waiting for 21.01 to come out before upgrading.

Then you don't have "Clear history when Firefox closes" checked, which
enables the Settings button (not box).

With the Settings button enabled, the user can select what history they
want cleared. Download history is automatically cleared when Firefox
closes by default.

All of that depends on whether the user has "Use custom settings for
history", selected for "Firefox will:"

Why do you think there is going to be a 21.0.1? There are never any
xx.xx versions.

Found it, but set not to clear any histories.

The downloads don't disappear after Firefox closes, they disappear the
split second they are complete.

21.1 then.

Disappear from history, the download manager, or the containing folder?

If I open the Download history (Ctrl+Shift+Y) I see finished downloads,
with a folder icon next to them. If I activate the folder icon, it opens
the folder, and takes me right to the downloaded file.

Have a download I can test?

Versions of Firefox are xx.0. If there is a need for a fix during that
releases cycle the version would be numbered xx.0.1, xx.0.2 and so on.

There are never any xx.1 or xx.xx releases.

Folder, the actual download, the .exe or .zip.

It shows up in the download history, I get a pop-up from FF saying the
download is complete. But the folder, no matter what folder I choose, is
empty.

It is there while the download is taking place, soon as complete... Gone.

I use Directory Opus, default opening directory is
C:\Users\derek\Downloads. I will move it from there to wherever I decide
to keep it.

https://startpage.com/uk/?

Right click the Start Page TM picture, choose save image as as...
Download complete, folder empty.

A zip. http://www.snapfiles.com/downloads/cports/dlcports.html click or
right click 'Download the 64-bit version of CurrPorts', again, download
complete... Folder empty.

One of those setting in 'Reset the download folder' did the trick. I'll
have to bookmark that.

Thanks.

Those both appear in my Downloads folder when finished.

It appears you solved your problem, by resetting something in about:config.
