Summary: New opacity render problem in Firefox 3 Beta 5

Comments:
Hello dear developers of Mozilla Firefox,

in the first, thank you for the great work, Firefox is our standard
webbrowser for both, daily use and development!

At the topic: there is a critical new rendering bug with
transparency/opacity in the just released version Firefox 3 Beta 5! We
could reproduce the bug on our test system, a Windows XP Home based PC
with 32bit colour depth. This bug did not occur in beta 4, so it must be
related with the changes made for beta 5!

We create a demo website which shows you the problem; it is located
under the following address:

http://www.emanagers.de/ff3b5_bug/

Please view this site with both, Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 Beta 5. You can
see the strange differences in the boxes with "abc" text and input
fields. Firefox 3 Beta 5 shows a white background and makes the
background of the text input fields not green as defined but renders it
with the background fractal image in a weird way.

We linked two screenshots in the website, so you can see the page at it
should be and as it renders problematic in the same browser instance.

You can save the whole page (including image files) using this link:

http://www.emanagers.de/ff3b5_bug/ff3b5problem.tar.bz2

You can find some notices marked with the keyword "CHECK" in the CSS and
HTML code of the index.html file, so you can focus on these lines first.

We hope, that you can find the rendering bug in the current development
code of Mozilla Firefox, so this bug could be fixed before final version
of Firefox 3 will be released for the public use.

Greetings,
R. Holler

I am seeing the same problem on my company's internal web site as
well, which I developed.
Sometimes by setting overflow to hidden instead of auto reduce the
rate of seeing this opacity bug, but somehow it might come back again.
I do not see this in FF2 not FF3 beta 4, only in FF3 beta 5 and RC1.

Same thing here. Overflow auto on a div with opacity causes
illumination on Firefox 3 (official release)

Please fix this for the next update. I'm not going to change my
website for the sake of this bug.
