That is, of course, not normal behavior.
The first thing to try would be to fix your home page at
tools, options, main
more information at
http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/options#main
an easy way to fix is to have your home page, and only
the home page(s) that you want to be loaded available on
your tabs, close all other pages, then use
Tools, Options, Main, Use Current page
They to make sure that it worked, exit Firefox with File, Exit
(not with the X), so that all Firefox windows and all of Firefox
is ended. Then bring up Firefox again, to check.
If that doesn't work then try

If you have an IBM ThinkPad or Lenovo you may have roaming profile
and that's a bit more of a hassle.
