Whilst I like the new short Title Bar menu option in Firefox 4 there
are a few options that are missing. I don't know if there is a
difference between operating systems but I use Windows 7.
The first most noticeable missing option is Private Browsing.... Where
is it in the menu???? I know it is in the jumplist but I do think it
should be incorporated within the the new menu under the "New" option
or as its own item.
The second is a Download option. I know it usually shows when you
start to download a file but there isn't an option in the new menu to
also open it.
The third moving the "Add-on" Option to the main menu rather than it
being hidden under Customize. Whilst it is attributed to customisation
it is a huge option and deserves a place in the main menu.
For tabs, I'd like to be able to say double click a tab and it will
get duplicated or that a duplication option is available in the tabs
context menu. Firefox is the only browser that I have used that
doesn't offer tab duplication built in (I know you can get add-ons for
this but having it built in would save any need for an add-on). IE8
and Opera has this functionality.
Hope to see these :)

what is currently landed is wildly incomplete. Here is the most recent
version of the plan:

Actually, it has it — it's just very well hidden. ;)
Try holding down Alt (Option) and drag a tab, you'll get a copy of it.

The duplicate tab option is well hidden as Alex said (thanks for the
tip), though I still think a Duplicate Tab option should be added to
the Tab context menu.

Tab duplication on drag doesn't play that well with the real time tab
animation work that Frank is doing. We may need to move "duplicate" to the
context menu of the tab and remove the hidden alt on drag operation (or we
would need to create the duplicate after the user dropped the tab they were
physically dragging, which is strange).
Out of curiosity, can anyone explain the use cases for tab duplication? It
seems like we can achieve all of them in other ways:
-Copy the back/forward history when you context click to open a link in a
new tab
-Correctly handle right clicking on javascript links if you select open in
new tab (instead of opening a blank tab with a javascript url in the
location bar)
Assuming we got these two issues fixed (and the later one is really not
trivial), would there be any remaining reasons why it is useful to duplicate
an existing tab?

You missed the reason I duplicate tabs (and I didn't know of that
shortcut before, is it even documented? anyway I went to great effort)
is some sites do not function properly when you open a link in a new
tab (or a clickable object isn't a link and cannot properly function
if right clicked (usually flash based).
In these cases I would open a new tab, copy the url into the
awesomebar and go to the page (in effect duplicating the tab) and then
click the link/object to progress down the separate paths I wanted to
pursue in the website.
Now knowing about the option+drag shortcut I will already save time
(I'm a shortcut guy), but it would be nice to let people discover this
functionality themselves.
There are occasions where tab duplication is very useful (to me and
maybe to others). The main one is filling out forms either on the same
page or on a newly created tab (or page) without having to scroll up
or go back if you needed to refer to something. Sometimes pressing
back loses what you have filled in nine times out of ten. Another is
comparing two different pages on the same website saving the need to
reload a new tab and finding where you need to go. As I mentioned
before IE8 and Opera have such options in their tab context menus
without an addin, I feel it is time Firefox implemented it as well.
Especially when the indirect way of Alt Gr and dragging the tab is
already there.

Some places ctrl-click and/or middle-click don't seem to work, sometimes
context-click just gives entries like 'view image' (or nothing at all). Try
the search button at https://developer.mozilla.org/En for instance. If it
doesn't look like an ordinary text link, I duplicate the tab instead. *Some
other* alternative might work *sometimes*; I don't want to serially make
guesses and try them (this is *usability*, not *time-wasting*). BTW, I
duplicate a tab by ctrl-clicking the reload button (surprised no one
mentioned that).
As for me, I duplicate using CTRL+Drag, which works well (I don't
recall having a specific add-on for that nor a pref ; it seems built-
in) and is much more discoverable than AltGr+Drag, and much more in
line with OS drag behaviour. Still, I feel a menu would not hurt for
discoverability.

Ctrl+drag was mentioned for Firefox 3 and works to duplicate a tab.

I don't see Alt+drag at tab or AltGr+drag a tab doing anything but moving the tab.

HTH,
David McRitchie, extensions I use are briefly documented on my site
Firefox Custom: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/firefox/firefox.htm
There are usually more than one way to do things, your operation requires the
use of two new buttons and the second one is very confusing, both would
waste valuable toolbar space.
The O.P. (jpsteward444) indicated a context menu option would be good.
One extensions that would do that and a heck of a lot more is
"Multiple Tab Handler", another extension that would do it by tab clicking
is "Tab Clicking Options". I use both, but only use "Tab Clicking Options"
to close a tab by double-clicking it, there are others that would do that
but this one works with MTH. It allows me to create documentation from
tab title and url in various formats to the clipboard such as for email,
several different HTML formats, and a wiki format.
Actually the ability of selecting multiple tabs with the MTH extension makes
dragging a tab to duplicate it with Ctrl+drag-tab tricky. MTH is one of the
tab context menu extensions that is not working in Firefox 4.0
possibly connected to Bug 581646
I agree that it should be grouped with the new/open options. I also don't
think that the current "new" options follow a particularly logical path e.g.
Firefox->New Tab->New Window doesn't really make sense
As discussed at:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/User:Broccauley/Firefox_Menu_Explorations#Feedback_on_.22i6.22_Faaborg_iteration_found_in_FF4_beta_5
I proposed a Firefox->Page->Open New hierarchy.
I never knew this existed either - you do mean Ctrl though for anyone using
a normal non-Bay Area computer :P.
I can see this being useful is you want to compare 2 sections of a long page
side-by-side in 2 separate windows.
