hi;

This is notice for a downtime from 6am PDT to 12noon PDT on Friday 4th May.

This 6 hour downtime is so we can replace our existing
ftp.m.o/stage/surf systems with new systems in scl3. This requires a
hard downtime to sync over recent changes between data centers, and will
require closing all trees. Note this will also prevent us publishing new
releases on ftp.

For this downtime:
* all trees will be closed, and no new builds uploaded to ftp.m.o
* ftp.mozilla.org will be read-only during this window.
* external users can continue to get updates (rsync) and end-user
downloads (ftp/http) will continue to work for existing builds on ftp.m.o.
* during the downtime we cannot generate new releases. We believe
FF13.0b2, currently the only release scheduled to ship on Friday, can be
moved to its final release location on ftp late-thurs-evening in order
to keep FF13.0b2 shipping Friday as scheduled. Investigations continue.

Note: RelEng only got access to the new systems in scl3 yesterday
(Tuesday), so we are still doing production-readiness verification in
time for Friday morning downtime. If we find problems, or need to defer
this downtime for a chemspill or any reason, I'll let everyone know
asap. We do know all production systems have to be transitioned *off*
the existing ftp/stage/surf by 9am next Tuesday 08may.

As ride-alongs, we hope to also move tinderbox server, and graphserver
in the same downtime. These are being done by different people, and
should be completed quicker then this ftp/stage/surf migration.

As always, please let me, or anyone else in RelEng know ASAP if there is
any reason we should not proceed with this downtime. And of course, we
will open the trees and inform #developers as soon as possible once this
maintenance is complete.

tc
John.

All,

This outage is being rescheduled to a time that has less impact on development efforts.

Sincerely,

Damon
