Thunderbird specific documentation???

Hello XUL list,

Where do I find Thunderbird specific documentation?

Why isn't there an updated cookbook outlining best practice based
solutions? Is there a need for a volunteer to perform technical writing?
If so, I am willing to donate my time; yet, I would need someone to
explain things to me first.

If there was adequate documentation, what I am looking to do, which is
to make a simple, but advanced, visual editor for creating/utilizing
multi-part templates and their related forms, well beyond any of the
available add-ons, would probably be an extremely simple task; however,
there the lack of organized Thunderbird specific documentation, makes
the job seem daunting.

Hopeful that someone can provide a little hand-holding,
