Is Pango used by OS/2 Moz apps? If so, might MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO=1 give us
the same rendering improvements as those shown (though anecdotal) on Linux?

I just stumbled on this issue again, and meant to follow up on it.

TIA

No, when Peter moved us to Cairo we had no working Pango so just went
with Fontconfig (now a rewrite) and Freetype. Silvan has ported Pango
for Lucide and perhaps if I ever get bored I'll try to build with it.

What kind of rendering improvements do you see? IIRC Pango is most
useful for non-latin alphabets especially some of the obscure Indu ones.

Thanks for the clarification, Dave, and now I know why when I set that,
I see *no* rendering improvements on OS/2 (I have not tried on Linux, as
yet, but my reading tells me that with latin alphabets, I should see
faster rendering of *most* text with Pango disabled).

Cheers
