osx copy of fennec is not loading webpages

I tried installing
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/releases/latest/ on osx,
created a new profile, and checked the error console for errors but saw
none.

Loading about: pages seems to work fine, but I can't load google.com,
yahoo.com, etc..

Any idea what might be wrong?

Probably should just pull the builds as they are no-longer relevant.
