I am trying to access several websites whose url is in this format:
http://www.webaddress.com/

These web sites do NOT have a mobile version. Firefox insists on
changing the desired URL to: http://m.webaddress.com/

This change is no good because I get a web site not found error. The
desired website exists, but not the mobile version.

How do I stop Firefox from doing this? This behavior makes Firefox
unusable.

I have Firefox Mobile running on a Motorola Razr Maxx, Android version
2.3.6.

hi David, can you share some of the URLs that are redirected to "m." URLs?

AFAIK, Firefox Mobile does not have any code to optimistically use "m."
URLs. I suspect the websites do not recognize Firefox Mobile's
User-Agent String and *they* try to redirect us to an "m." site (that
does not seem to exist).

Thanks for reporting this issue!

Chris:

One website that causes the issue is one I wrote for the small
business (child care facility) that I own. It is:
http://www.AcademyOfLittleLearners.com/ In my case, the "m." version
of my site does not exist. If I use the browser that came with
Android on my Razr Maxx (in landscape orientation), I get an
acceptable display of my website. But, I like Firefox better & would
prefer to use it.

You are probably right in that my site does not recognize the
"User-Agent-String". If that is the cause, would it be possible for
you to provide the html code I need to modify my site and perhaps tell
me where to insert this code? I am a very early beginner in website
programming.

You should ask for help from the person who runs the server that hosts
your web site. The server is configured to direct certain mobile
browsers to http://m.academyoflittlelearners.com/ and that configuration
should simply be removed.

It looks like your server is running Microsoft IIS, so this information
might help if you administer it yourself:
