Hi all,

For those who aren't aware, we decided to ship the native UI Fennec
using a Fennec-specific (aka local) history/bookmarks DB instead
Android's system DB (which is what we're using at the moment). I've
just enabled local DB on nightly today. It should be available on
tomorrow's build. Aurora will get it soon.

Unfortunately, this means that if your XUL Fennec profile has already
been migrated to Android's system DB, you'll suddenly have no browser
history and bookmarks in your profile once you update to a Nightly or
Aurora build with local DB enabled. XUL profile data migration will go
to local DB (not Android DB) once we move native UI to Beta.

Let me know if you need any clarifications.

Cheers!

Hi Chris,

Yes, they are completely separate. The Android DB is provided by a
system ContentProvider that is used by stock browser. The local DB is
a ContentProvider fully controlled and only accessible by Fennec and
Firefox Sync.

Bug 710330 is about allowing users to import Android DB history and
bookmarks to local DB.

Hi all,

FYI: local DB is now enabled in Aurora as well. Same warning about
possibly getting an empty history/bookmarks DB applies.

Thanks,

The warnings here are now out of date, right?
