Hi all,

I am working on getting a Windows 64 bit builds automated and I think
that I managed to create a build correctly with MSVC2010 [1] even though
it crashed. I will try to build it with vc8 or 9 and see if it doesn't
crash (as a community member tested and commented on my post [1]).

After chatting with ted it should be fine for me to start generating
them with vc8 or vc9 (whatever works) until we have people trying to fix
the vc10 situation. For reference, on the 32bit side it seems that we
are going to switch to vc10 since it has some wins for us [2].

Getting Win 64 bit builds is part of Firefox 4.0 road-map plan [3] and
to we need to make it happen AFAIK. I know that people have different
opinions on what is important and what is not, if we do have measurable
wins, etc... but IMHO let's please keep that for other thread (if
possible) and keep this thread to make things work as the best of our
efforts (I might be talking bigger than is my place to).

For reference, check the meta bug [4] for known problems for Win 64 bit
builds (thanks to Makoto Kato!) and the tracking bug to have automation [5].

Best regards,
Armen

Can you run the crashing build under a debugger and file a bug
containing the crash stack?

Hi, Armen.

Although I test building using VC8 and VC9, I don't test VC10 yet.
(xpcshell-tests doesn't works due to js-ctypes issues even if VC8 or VC9.)

This weekend or next week, I will setup VC10 environment for this.

Thanks Makoto this should be a very valuable information when more
people start trying running unit tests.

Hi Ehsan,
I have changed the approach on the work here to speed it up and
constantly generate all the binaries. I am working on getting buildbot
into this slave and put it in the production pool ASAP to generate
builds, symbols and others for every commit. I hope to have this next week.

Bug 567154 - Configure single buildslave in production to generate
nightly Windows 64-bit builds

Cheers,
Armen
