As with the platform teams, the Firefox team has spent some time
soliciting input from various groups and stakeholders and identifying
themes and areas of interest for the next version of Firefox, be
developed under the project name "Namoroka".
In contrast to previous product planning exercises, which were
declarative and relatively inflexible, we hope to develop this project
in a highly iterative manner by which we initially declare project
goals and prioritized areas of interest for investigation, and then
spend time determining the exact shape and scope of feature
development tasks. The outcome of these investigations will be a set
of feature design documents (using a common template [1]) which will
be prioritized and constitute the final product development plan.
An initial draft of the proposed process and areas of development
interest is available at: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/Namoroka
We are soliciting feedback on:
- the proposed process
- the project goals, as expressed in the draft plan
- the areas of development interest (both of the ones highlighted
and about ones you feel we're missing)
Your input and feedback is requested, either:
- in this thread (please reply/follow-up to dev-pl...@lists.mozilla.org
/ mozilla.dev.planning)
- on the discussion page at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Talk:Firefox/Namoroka
cheers,
mike
