Hello,

Since we built RC1 of Firefox for Windows, Mac and Linux we have kept nightly updates of mozilla-central builds "frozen" to get more stable data on crash and bug reports. Those updates have now been unfrozen and will return to delivering the latest code that has been checked in to mozilla-central.

Since the RC1 cutoff the Fennec team has been landing fixes required for Firefox 4 for Android on mozilla-central. At this time, we do *not* plan on including these changes in the Firefox 4 builds for other platforms. Users of Minefield nightly builds will be able to and are encouraged to help the Fennec team test those changes, but please be away of the (small) code divergence at this point.

Should a second release candidate be required for the desktop builds, it will be built from the releases/mozilla-2.0 branch that was created for RC1, with the changes "double landed" on that branch and the trunk. At this time there is no plan for nightly builds off the releases/mozilla-2.0 branch as the code isn't planned on changing from RC1.

Please follow-up to dev.planning only with any questions.

cheers,
mike

What criteria are currently in force for granting approval-2.0?

(Of course, I'm wondering when my canvas-performance patches can land :-).)

Assuming approval-2.0 is still being used to determine approval on mozilla-central (which I think it is?) then that's up to the mobile guys. If they're OK with your performance patches, I don't see why they couldn't land on that repository, as we would want them for the next major release of Firefox.

You'd be on the hook for making sure that they can be easily disabled or reverted, though.

cheers,
mike
