Hey there,
We all knew it was coming, but we've gotten to the point where the Gecko platforms being used for Firefox and Fennec are diverging.
Firefox 3.6 / Gecko 1.9.2 will ship tomorrow, using builds based off the FIREFOX_3_6rc2_BUILD1 FIREFOX_3_6rc2_RELEASE tag on the mozilla-1.9.2 branch.
Fennec 1.0 RC3 will be built next week, and should be numbered Gecko 1.9.2.1. While it's not essential, I think it could easily be built from mozilla-1.9.2 tip, which is bitwise identical to the existing release branch that's been used for Fennec 1.0 RC1 and RC2, with the following additional fixes:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=ALL%20status1.9.2:.1-fixed
This means that the first stability and support version of Firefox will, most likely, be built off Gecko 1.9.2.2 or perhaps even .3. We can get into all sort of exciting debates about whether or not we want to force the Firefox 3.6.x version number to match, or just keep a mapping, but let's cross that bridge when we get there.
cheers,
mike
