Hey everyone,

Progress for Firefox 3.1 Alpha 1 is being tracked here:

http://wiki.mozilla.org/Releases/Firefox_3.1a1

After a successful freeze on Monday night (and a quick Awesomebar
performance regression backout the next morning) we rolled en-US
builds for Firefox 3.1 Alpha 1and QA began their tests. You can see
the QA test results here:

http://wiki.mozilla.org/QA/Firefox3.1/TestPlan/Alpha1#Test_Results

A bug (444963) was found in which launching Java embeds on OSX builds
would result in a complete browser hang. A workaround patch was
generated, so we'll be taking that and respinning those builds.

This respin (since builds are being done manually at this point) will
likely move our release date for Alpha 1 into early next week. I think
that's fine, as I'll be on the ground in Whistler on Monday and can
marshall the release from there.

cheers,
mike

3.1a1 will be in http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.1a1/
and file name is now "Firefox Setup 3.1a1.exe", named/labeled
"Firefox"

before, Gran Paradiso is in http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/granparadiso/
and file name is "Gran Paradiso Setup Alpha 1.exe", named/labeled
"Gran Paradiso" (code name).

why 3.1a1 named "Firefox"?
this should be "Shiretoko" (Shiretoko Setup Alpha 1.exe) ?

Agreed. While this sounds a little nitpicky, it's important as they
aren't built with the official branding. I'll note that the builds
refer to themselves as Shiretoko when they're actually run, so we're
mostly OK, and just need to rename the installers. I'll get build to
look into it. I'm assuming that we're just going through some growing
pains as we move our scripts and infrastructure to hg.

cheers,
mike

hi pal-moz;

Thanks for catching that and sorry - its now fixed.

This was our first release from hg, was done manually, and we had some
machine issues, so this release was a little bumpier then usual. Please
let us know if you find anything else unexpected, ok?
