As discussed last week, we're aiming to freeze up by mid-day PT today. The blocker list remains a little high - 28 as of this writing - though, so I'm not sure we'll make it exactly on time:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=blocking2.0:beta4+
Everyone should consider this your a top priority for today. Co-ordinate landings with the sheriff in #developers to make sure that we keep the tree healthy. Until we hit code freeze, I have suggested (and the sheriff has agreed!) that we restrict mozilla-central to:
- blocking2.0:beta4+ bugs
- blocking-fennec:2.0a1 bugs
- test & bustage fixes
- NPOTB checkins

Enable Direct2D by default for some subset of hardware
If D2D is turned on by default, is font rendering going to be the
same? On the latest 32bit nightly font rendering is degraded
significantly (ATI HD4650, Catalyst 10.7, Win7 64bit). It should
remain the same as the global cleartype setting.

so at this point in time, we're at 13 open bugs. I closed
shipped-locales, at least for as long as I'm in bed. That is, I don't
expect changes, but, hell yeah, I'd take more surprises from our l10n
community.
What's the rest of the tree like? I'd appreciate if I would find an
update when I get out of bed tomorrow.

There are 12 blockers left, about half of which are JavaScript bugs which seem to be fixed on tracemonkey (should we expect another merge soon) and another quarter of which are awaiting checkin. A few remain that look like they'll slip to beta 5.
Were I a betting man, I'd say we could get there late tonight, or early tomorrow AM. Updates as I have them.
cheers,
mike
We made excellent progress!
As of this writing, the beta 4 blocker list sits at 4 remaining:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=583757 - fixed on tracemonkey, just needs to merge over
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=558947 - looks like build config work, close to done
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=586004 - no patch, likely will slip to beta 5
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=551434 - running the patch through tryserver now
I'll report back in 6-9 hours, but hopefully we'll be able to go to builds in the morning, ET.
cheers,
mike
Code freeze achieved! Looks like the tree is green and I'll be sending beta4 to the build team using changeset http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/b51b190b9fcc ...

- the parts of this bug required for Firefox 4 are now resolved

- indeed it did!

- decided to push this off to beta 5, it's not essential
Additionally, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=550936 (InstallTrigger support E10S) slipped out to beta 5 (it's required for Fennec 2.0a1, so it'll get resolved soon) due to regressions in SunSpider and Dromaeo.
