what should the defaults on the graphs-new dashboard be?
Hello, Right now [link] shows some defaults we randomly picked out over a year ago: * Platforms: Windows 7 and XP, Mac OS X, Linux * Products: Firefox, Tracemonkey or Places (default to Firefox) * Tests: Ts (startup time), Tp (pageload), SunSpider I was starting to work on adding a separate Mobile "product" to the... more »

Shutting down dev.performance
Hi, At the moment dev.performance is a little used list that overlaps with dev.platform. Important recent posts made on dev.performance, have been a mistake (eg. threads by Messrs. Jesup and Mandelin). So in order to not risk further lost threads I propose we shutdown this mailing list and move all of the future discussion to dev.platform.... more »

Android/ARM Firefox Perforamance: where we are and where to go
...I absolutely think that we need to better understand the memory usage of the content process as well as the chrome process. ...I keep hearing this anecdotally but have never had anyone actually give us numbers that we could optimize against. There's lots of opportunity to measure and refine message passing overhead, but in contrived tests... more »

Android/ARM Firefox Performance: where we are and where to go
I've been thinking a bit about what can do, and what we need to do, for Firefox performance on mobile devices. This is really just a start, but I think it points the way for the performance efforts we have to make to make Firefox just as great on Android/ARM as it is on desktop. I give an evaluation of performance today, recommendations for top performance... more »

graphs-new change - render points instead of lines in custom chart view
Hello, A graphs-new.mozilla.org release will be pushed shortly (bug 677309). This contains fixes for things like links to mozilla-inbound, showing the right version of Tp on the dashboard, and fixes for a few small bugs. I don't normally post about new releases here, but this also includes a UI change from Justin Lebar to show points instead of lines on the... more »

SessionStore size - Bloat in sessionstore.js from Google and others causing major UI freezes
Randell Jesup schrieb: ...That sounds like a good idea to me in any case. We should try to get as much stuff away from the main thread as possible to ensure good responsiveness of UI. ...\o/ welcome back \o/ Robert Kaiser

Custom FireFox build with garbage collection
Hi, I'm working on a custom FireFox build with garbage collection to see if I can improve performance and reduce memory consumption. I have a custom build available if people are willing to test it (at their own risk). I will make source code available so people have to be able to make a FF build... more »

production graphs 2.0 server ready for use
Hello, The 2.0 version of graphs.mozilla.org is ready for use: [link] We're not quite ready to take over graphs.mozilla.org yet - the plan is to do a phased rollout starting with this post, followed by advertising the new URL on graphs.m.o, and finally taking over graphs.m.o and moving the old server to graphs-old.m.o... more »

graphs.allizom.org going down for upgrade tomorrow 11 AM Pacific
The perfomatic 2.0 staging server, [link], is going down tomorrow at 11 AM Pacific for an OS upgrade. We're trying to deploy to production and having some issues with reproducing the staging environment since it's a different OS version. I expect it to take a few hours, and will send an update if it's not... more »

Firefox fat on Javascript?
[I apologize to the members of the vimpera...@mozdev.org mailing list, who have basically received 2 copies of this email; I didn't realize I needed to be subscribed to the other mailing lists before posting, and I wanted to keep you in the loop--but I guess that's kind of silly anyway, because maybe you can't talk to each other anyhow...]... more »
