Notes from www.mozilla.org planning meeting on 1/6

present: david, sheppy, gordon, milos

- Role of meeting

Since these meetings haven't been well attended recently and it's
mostly been a matter of David giving a quick update on things, we
discussed if there was still a need for having this meeting. The
general consensus was that there wasn't much to talk about now mostly
because the blocked review queue means that there's no progress to
discuss, but when we can get more attention on bugs and reviews that
this meeting will be useful.

David gave an update and said that once the mozilla.org/mozilla.com
merge happens within the next few months the combined mozilla.org
should be able to plug into the existing webdev process better than
mozilla.org is able to today. These meetings can then help us
prioritize items that can then be discussed as part of webdev triage
for the site.

In the meantime we'll continue to have the meetings even if they are
brief updates.

- Localization

We discussed how to move forward with site localization and Milos
offered to help with some of the infrastructure needed for the site,
such as a language picker for pages with localized content. There
have also been some recent contributions of new localized content that
David will post soon.

The long term goal with localization is to follow the best practices
of the web l10n community, but for now we'll go forward with making
the existing system of localizing pages on mozilla.org work as best we
can until we figure out how the long term l10n strategy will work on a
combined mozilla.org/mozilla.com site.

- New time

We discussed options for possible new times but didn't come up with a
clear recommendation. We remain open to moving things to whenever
works best for people who are interested in this meeting.
