Notes from mozilla.org planning meeting on 2/4

- Coordination among sites
Most of the meeting involved a discussion with John Slater, Mozilla
Corporation Creative Director, about ways that mozilla.org can work
with other sites, in particular mozilla.com, to help improve the way
we tell the Mozilla story.
The short version of the discussion is that John feels like it is
useful to start thinking of all Mozilla web sites as one big site that
fit together as a whole. This means that more coordination and
integration is a good thing to work toward, although specific plans
haven't been figured out for exactly how to do this.
In general, having John, or others from Mozilla Marketing, get more
involved in mozilla.org and help out with the site was thought to be a
good way to work through an integrated plan for the site. There was
agreement that this was a good idea as long as this could happen
within existing processes established for the site. John didn't think
that would be a problem.
- p1 bugs
Reed discussed the planning for the new staging site that he's been
doing with MoCo webdev. Nothing is finalized but they are looking at
adding a very light-weight publishing mechanism to allow people to
stage something without it going automatically live. There was
discussion about how this would change the existing workflow and would
need to be something that was acceptable to current committers or that
current committers would need to have acceptable alternative solutions
for their content. This was mostly just an update and will be
discussed more before being finalized.
We ran out of time to go into detail about any other open items since
the discussion about coordination took up most of the meeting. We can
schedule another meeting this month as needed to cover the rest of the
topics or just discuss more on the lists.
