It seems messages sent through the Mailman interface get their
Message-ID rewritten when populated in the Newsgroups, but then the
mailing list subscribers seem to receive the messages with their
original Message-IDs, which breaks the threading of their replies
when viewed through the News interface, at least.

This is the initial message in a thread which appears to be made
through the mailing list interface:

news://news.mozilla.org/mailman.6653.1313914738...@lists.mozilla.org

List-Id: Support for the SeaMonkey Application Suite <support-seamonkey.lists.mozilla.org>
Message-ID: <mailman.6653.1313914738...@lists.mozilla.org>

The first reply to this message also appears made through the
mailing list interface:

news://news.mozilla.org:119/mailman.6654.1313914855...@lists.mozilla.org

References: <4E50BF3A...@pamneil.co.uk>
In-Reply-To: <4E50BF3A...@pamneil.co.uk>
List-Id: Support for the SeaMonkey Application Suite <support-seamonkey.lists.mozilla.org>
Message-ID: <mailman.6654.1313914855...@lists.mozilla.org>

A subsequent reply through the mailing list looks like:

news://news.mozilla.org:119/mailman.6658.1313922555...@lists.mozilla.org

References: <4E50BF3A...@pamneil.co.uk> <4E50BFDD...@Rhul.Ac.Uk>
In-Reply-To: <4E50BFDD...@Rhul.Ac.Uk>
List-Id: Support for the SeaMonkey Application Suite <support-seamonkey.lists.mozilla.org>
Message-ID: <mailman.6658.1313922555...@lists.mozilla.org>

The broken threading could be observed through the Google Groups
interface, also:
