Hello Media Lovers -- especially WebRTC Lovers,
So we have a implementation plan for WebRTC. It's actually a project
map, and it does a pretty good job of showing which pieces depend on
which and when we expect to complete implementation for each task of the
project. You can find the project map here:
https://github.com/mozilla/webrtc/raw/master/planning/webrtc.pdf
How to read and interpret this project map: The granularity for the
target dates is weekly. For example, we expect to have the "partial
peer connection" piece working by the week of June 15th plus or minus a
week; so this work could slip into the week of June 22nd, and that's
ok. We're hoping that we're not off by more than a week on our
estimates. And, bottom line, we expect to have a full working system
ON DESKTOP by the week of July 13th plus or minus a couple of weeks --
which means WebRTC on desktop should be working before the end of July.
We'll be updating bugzilla shortly to match this project map.
IMPORTANT NOTE #1: Since even good battle plans rarely survive contact
with the enemy, this plan is subject to change and will be updated every
week. So when you pull this map in the future, the info in it should
not be more than a week out of date, but it may well be different from
what you see today if we hit surprises. Feel free to ask me directly
(
mre...@mozilla.com) if you have questions or post here if you think its
worthy of group discussion.
IMPORTANT NOTE #2: This is not a landing plan for mozilla-central.
We're working on that now as a follow-up to this implementation plan,
but we hope we can land a working system in mozilla-central within a
month or so of getting the implementation working. Lots more details on
that once we have a landing schedule.
IMPORTANT NOTE #3: This is for DESKTOP support only. We will support
WebRTC on B2G and Android in the future, but we're focusing on desktop
for now.
Thanks!
-Maire
