Subject: Re: Requesting Feedback about the MDN Localization Dashboard

Wanted to get the ball rolling with some early feedback we have heard...

* Should we update the labels (Edit review, Tech review, English revision time, etc.) to make their functions more clear?
* Should we somehow make the "View" filter more prominent? This seems like one of the first things a user would interact with.
* Finding the most important content will probably be a top goal of our users. Should we consider borrowing concepts from SUMO (a list of "Most visited" pages, a list of "Most ignored" pages, etc.) to help users find this important content?
* The Localization Dashboard will be similar to the Revision Dashboard. Which of these problems with the Revision Dashboard should we correct in the Localization Dashboard? (Revision Dashboard problems: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!topic/mozilla.dev.mdn/5mH4SlXXOX8)

Subject: Requesting Feedback about the MDN Localization Dashboard

We are building a Localization Dashboard for MDN, but we need your help!

We are still discussing exactly how this feature should look and behave. Have an idea? Want to help us make the dashboard even better? Please take a look at our current proposal (thank you Jeremie!) and let us know what you think. Nothing is off limits! We are excited to read your feedback and look forward to incorporating your ideas into the final product.

Thank you,

Hi John,

I'm Francisco, also helping in the spanish localization of the MDN.

I will reply based on your points, and hope this feedback helps other to
express their opinions. In any case, are you thinking to make some kind
of poll??

> * Should we update the labels (Edit review, Tech review, English
revision time, etc.) to make their functions more clear?
I think that in this case, labels won't help much. Besides that
localization teams should take care to match this labels, and have them
updated.

> * Finding the most important content will probably be a top goal of
our users. Should we consider borrowing concepts from SUMO (a list of
"Most visited" pages, a list of "Most ignored" pages, etc.) to help
users find this important content?
+ 100, I think this is a must for the MDN, it will help localisers a
good point for start, since there is a huge amount of articles, and
sometimes is hard to define priorities.

Also I would like to see some kind of labels or other option to warn
l10n teams about updates on an article.

Finally, probably this topic was already covered on another thread, but
I think that the editor is not very friendly for localization.

My 2 cents.

Kind regards.

Thank you for the feedback, Francisco. We will certainly keep these ideas in mind.

We are sorry to hear that the editor does not work well for you, but we would love to make improvements. What changes did you have in mind?

Thanks,

Hi John,

I think that the editor could be a little confusing, since the scrolling
is not synchronized when you have the article finished, and you want to
check the final details of the translation (if you scroll in the
translated version, the original won't move at all).

Also I would cut off some options from the editor menu (save for
example, already appears on the upper side of the page.

Regards.
