Hi Sergey.
We recognize that, as Mozilla, we have a worldwide community therfore one of our top priorities in finding a payment provider was to allow as many countries as possible to participate in the marketplace. Out of all the payment providers we considered, PayPal did indeed have the widest international reach: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-approved-signup-countries-outside

We realize that this does not work seamlessly with all countries and we are always reviewing other payment providers.

For example, it allows to withdraw money to Russia only to US bank account. I live in Russia and I have no idea how I can get US bank account.

Somebody may think that this is not important. But look: Ubuntu was started by guy from South Africa (which is also not supported well by PayPal). So, I believe that it IS important for any platform to properly support international developers.

This is indeed a problem for a lot of people. Accessibility is in the
core of the Open Web initiatives at Mozilla, so we should definitely
support more inclusive payment systems. Is this on the roadmap?
Taking this to a slightly different level, what is our policy for
extensibility in the marketplace payment system? Would patches for eg.
Bitcoin support be treated like any other contribution (evaluated,
reviewed, approved, etc), or do we have more specific constraints in
this case? (I'm thinking about contract details with partner OEMs for
example).

Yes https://wiki.mozilla.org/AMO:Roadmap/2012

We're planning to add additional payment providers in Q2 2012, probably with an initial focus on carrier billing (e.g. on a boot to gecko device, billing the users' mobile carrier)

The implementation of Mozilla Marketplace payment providers is not really in code, it is a partner relationship between Mozilla and the payment provider. So it is treated like our other partner relationship: we negotiate directly with each partner.

A bitcoin provider would be really interesting!

Hi Kumar,

Thank you for your response.

PayPal international support looks good only if it is not compared to moneybookers. Here is list of supported countries: http://www.moneybookers.com/app/help.pl?s=fees

As you can see - moneybookers supports withdrawal to all countries without exceptions and limitations. As user of moneybookers I can confirm that it indeed works without problems.

So, what is official way to suggest features for marketplace? Should I do something to pass this request to marketplace dev team? Or do they read this mailing list?
