Hi Everyone,

I am eager to give an update on the status of Firefox 3.1 and the release schedule. If you have been following the weekly updates (https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox3.1/StatusMeetings), you will see that we are planning to code freeze code Firefox 3.1 beta 3 this weekend.

The good news is that you don't have much to worry about since we will use the source stamps you have already submitted since we made the call for participation in beta 3. Today, Firefox's development team decided that we will have a fourth beta! :)

What that means for you:

1) There will likely be less than 20 strings for you to update for Firefox 3.1 beta 4. We will do our best to keep you informed of any changes, but please do look at Pike's dashboard to see the status of your build as we enter the beta 4 development cycle. http://l10n.mozilla.org/dashboard/

2) String freeze will happen about 6 weeks from now. We will notify you of the exact date of the string freeze for beta 4 when we find out, but please stay tuned.

3) There are about 7 lingering L10n bugs that we would like to get fixed for beta 4. You can see the list here:

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox3.1/StatusMeetings/2009-02-25#Localization

4) Beta 4 will cause the release of Firefox 3.1 to slip by several weeks, but it means we have more time to add languages that are in the review cycle!

As always, please don't hesitate to email any of us. We are here to help:

Technical issues or reviews:
Pike: ax...@mozilla.com
Gandalf: zbran...@mozilla.com

Web localization questions:
Pascal Chevrel: pascal....@mozilla-europe.org

Productization and web services:
Stas Malolepszy: st...@mozilla.com

Warm regards and thank you for your ongoing efforts,

Seth
