Hi,
I've just read the last checkins for sun-calendar-event-dialog.* files
and I think we're about to experience the same localization problems we
formely had in Sunbird:
The way the l10n files are written is almost unlocalizable in a correct
way (whatever the locale).
Plus, I was unable to understand the meaning of some strings because of
the lack of "LOCALIZATION NOTE:" comments explaining what are the
variables used for.
This was fixed in Sunbird this way : http://tinyurl.com/ydkj5m

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=338167

thanks for pointing this out :-) i was already aware of the fact that
there are still some localization issues with this new implementation of
the event dialog but i was working hard on getting all those new
features in during the past several weeks. i just filed bug #359353 in
order to resolve this issue.

as a side note, this new implementation of the event dialog doesn't have
anything to do with the WCAP provider (i just read the IRC log). it is a
full-blown implementation for creating/editing events which strives for
a more streamlined user-interface including the following set of new
features:
* shortcuts for setting recurrence rules
* custom reminders
* timezone support
* 'show time as'-feature
* custom settings displayed as hyperlink (e.g. repeat pattern, reminder)
* enhanced implementation for handling invitations
* autocompletion for attendee-names (address book & LDAP directory)
* WCAP-specific support for free/busy information

the full specification can be found at
http://wiki.mozilla.org/Calendar:SMB_Event_Dialog

switching between the default dialog and this new implementation can be
achieved by setting the 'calendar.prototypes.wcap'-pref. i know that the
name of the pref is misleading (since it has basically nothing to do
with WCAP besides the support for free/busy information).

as always, comments and feedback is welcome.

regards,
mickey.
