Dear Localizers,

As you continue to sift through the Mozilla project work ahead of your
localization teams, I wanted to provide you a clear update on the
forthcoming mobile Firefox (Fennec) beta 5 and RC releases. With this
email, you should have a better understanding of the mobile release time
line, when to finish your work, and what has been happening up to this
point.

On Monday, November 9, beta 5 (for the Maemo platform) will be
released. For the first time, Mozilla will be distributing a
multi-locale build that, when installed, will enable locale switching on
the operating system of the Nokia device. There have been many
experiments and proofs of concept that have occupied a good majority of
time from Axel, the l10n-drivers, and Mozilla's Release Engineering
team. This week, we finally have a working build for the N900 and N810
devices.

Because of that ongoing work, we have held off a bit on encouraging you
to update the localization the product. The final push for localizing
should start next week as we prepare for the first RC, and then the
general availability. This push will include finalizing our single
locale builds, adding new locales, and finishing the work many of you
have started.

On Monday, you will see a multi-locale beta 5 available for testing on
the Nokia devices. The RC for mobile Firefox is expected to be on
December 1, 2009. General availability is going to be mid-December.

Bugs for your reference:

* Multi-locale build (fixed):

* Multi-locale locale list:

* Single-locale debian package (fixed):
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=519696
* Web-localization main tracking bug:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=522973

Thank you to all of you for working together on this. I can't remember
a time when we had so many releases colliding at the same time. The
global success of Mozilla products is due in large part to your work.
It's really an inspiration.

Warm regards,

Seth
