How to debug Firefox code?

I want to debug firefox code I am planning to use gdb for that I
also noticed that there are logging statements (e.g. "LOG()") in firefox
code. I wanted to know how to compile the firefox code to enable them and
which flags I need to enable so that I will get shared libraries that can be
used in gdb. How do you guys debug Firefox code normally?
