home page / online version of Gaia?
|
| |
Dear all,
I found this nice page in my Twitter timeline (hi Paul!):
[link]
I wish we could use something similar to get a Gaia home page. I think it'd be a nice demo, and it would be an easy way to follow the progress we make on the UI side — especially if this demo can be sync'ed with the... more »

OpenWebApps/B2G Security model
|
| |
Hi All,
I'm way over due to write a proposal for the Open Web Apps and
Boot-to-Gecko security models.
Background:
In general our aim should always be to design any API such that we can
expose it to as broad of set of web pages/apps as possible. A good
example of this is the Vibration API [1] which was designed such that... more »

B2G's kernel level permissions and reliability
|
| |
Hi,
I have some concerns toward the current B2G model at the OS/kernel
level, which I have discussed with various people already. I'd like to
raise awareness about these concerns and see if we currently have a
solution, or if a solution is really planned.
Note that the solution is likely to be electrolysis, but, while it's on... more »

B2G Threats/Controls
|
| |
Chris,
Below is a summary of threats and controls for further discussion. Disclaimer: this is my understanding from various conversations, wiki pages, bugs and IRC chats, so it's rough, probably varies from whats implemented (or what the final goals are), but its a starting point. Ultimately the aim is a considered security model with security controls commensurate to the threats posed, but to start with I want to start a discussion regarding what threats have been considered so far in the project, and the current thoughts around what controls are in place or planned. I know that a lot of the things below have already been considered in the project prior to me coming on board so the main aim for me is to run through the state of things, and start capturing the B2G security model.... more »

Should the virtual keyboard be part of Gaia or part of Gecko?
|
| |
Currently the B2G virtual keyboard is implemented as part of the Gaia homescreen, and uses some baroque hacks to go back and forth between content and chrome (which it needs to be able to do to generate key events in cross-origin app windows). Supporting the keyboard seems to make the homescreen architecture quite a bit more complicated than it... more »

Auto-merge from gaia/master to gaia/gh-pages
|
| |
Per a discussion with Chris, I've setup a Jenkins job to automatically merge every change from the 'master' branch of [link] to the 'gh-pages' branch. This is done under the github username of 'b2gautomation'.
There is currently no checking done other than that the merge was... more »

Universal Navigation for Web Apps
|
| |
The back button is fundamental to how people browse the web today and a lot
of effort has gone into encouraging web developers not to break the back
button (and forward button) when building single page web apps with lots of
AJAX (this is what parts of HTML5's history API are designed to help with).... more »
