Given the fact that the corresponding Firefox release (Firefox 2) with
its Gecko 1.8.1 backend was "end-of lifed" in December 2008 and the fact
that the Mozilla Corporation only supported this longer after massive
pleads from Mozilla Messaging, SeaMonkey and Calendar folks, I seriously
doubt that Thunderbird 2 will be supported that long.

yes, it generally applies to most types of hangs, but I didn't want to

The traditional Mozilla policy is to end-of-life 6 months after the new
version, which would imply that Thunderbird 2 will stop receiving
security updates around next May or June (Thunderbird 3 was released
last November, IIRC).
I am not an official driver, though, so my word is just speculation.

We are looking for a roadmap and/or end-of-life statement for
Thunderbird 2.
We haven't been able to find the answer on mozillamessaging, mozillazine

Always better to reference the specific bug you are talking about.
There are hundreds of "new" bugs that have not been addressed for one reason or another.
"new" does not imply that there is someone willing to correct the issue.

FYI, gFolderDisplay partly works for SeaMonkey 2 as well - we
implemented parts of it as a compatibility layer until we hopefully will
be able to fully switch over in a future version.

Oh, and there's only one set of UI widgets for all of the 3-pane and
message display tabs. (One folder pane tree, one thread pane tree, one
preview pane.)

The SeaMonkey code is relatively different from the Thunderbird code in
this scenario, as I understand it. You probably want to ask in the
SeaMonkey newsgroup.
If you are looking to accomplish the same goal in Thunderbird, if you
could elaborate more on what your use case is, that can help me target

Smart folders are nsIMsgFolders - the concrete class is always nsMsgLocalMailFolder, which implements nsIMsgFolder.

Hello, a difficult question
Is there a "TabSelected" event (or something equivalent) for the tabmail
/ mailWindow? I am trying to determine the folder that was opened in
the message preview by a mail tab being selected; so far (using
SeaMonkey - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6)
