Is there some guide as to "which file does what" for Firefox or
Thunderbird? That would be very helpful. Please note, that I am not
talking about the crossref at mxr. More like something, that tells,
which things are being done in which files.

Would make entry into extension development more simple. I fear of
rewriting code, that already exists at some place.
