Seems that you tested with a broken Lightning nightly builds. See

To get by this bug, I commented out line 380 in that file
so, as the required user, go to the file
<your user> /Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/fuuweidf.default/extensions/
{e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103}/modules/calStorageUpgrade.jsm
open calStorageUpgrade.jsm in your favorite text editor for code
(xcode maybe)
go to line 380
change the line
getZones.reset();
to
// getZones.reset();
save the file and reload thunderbird with lightning - It recovered my
old calendar... quit
restore the file back to
getZones.reset();
save....
and life should go on.
